My summer reading book that I read was I am the Messenger. My book is about a young guy named, Ed Kennedy who is an underage cab driver. He lives a very ordinary life in a very ordinary town some where in Australia. He lacks self confidence in all aspects of his life. One Day he is in a Bank with his buddies. A man arrives and threatens to fire his gun if he doesn't get money. The Criminal runs out the door with the money. Something in Ed made him run out and stop him. Ed Stops him and was put in the paper idolized as a hero. After about a week everything returned to normal. Until the day the first ace arrives in the mail and his mission begins. He is suddenly thrust into a world where he is helping and hurting, when necessary complete strangers. He changes peoples life mostly in a good way, but sometimes he hurts people. When he is hurting someone it is for the greater good. As his character evolves, Ed soon realizes his purpose and who is behind his secret mission.
I think I am the Messenger was one of the best books I have read. I would recommend it for a mature audience because it says some inappropriate words, and it needs an audience who can handle that kind of language. Also the characters use some slang language that's apart of the Australian language. The thing that I liked most about I am the Messenger was ironically the message. The lesson was ordinary people can do little things to make other peoples lives better.
