The book that I picked for independent reading is Unbroken By Laura Hillenbrand. I picked this book because I watched the movie and I really enjoyed it. It was a movie about a boy who was in the Olympics and then he had to go to war. His plane crashed and he and the pilot survived. They were captured by the Japanese navy. He was treated terribly in Japanese prison camps. Finally, the war was over and he was sent home. His life was troubling when he got home because of his flashbacks. As you can see the movie was amazing. I liked it so much I bought the book and am ready to read it. I know that the book version is usually better than the movie so I'm extra excited to read it. But I don't really know if it can be any better than the movie, it was pretty special

  1. I recently watched the movie Unbroken and thought it gave some good information on survival and prison camps. This book also interests me because of how he was able to survive as well as a hard time period because of the war going on. Hopefully i can pick up this book soon. -Rawls White
